VisitScotland’s Scottish Thistle Awards are recognised
as the benchmark of excellence and innovation across Scottish
tourism and on Friday 26 October, Sir Peter and Lady Erskine
were delighted to be the recipients of the Regional Events and
Festivals award.
Using Cambo’s 70 acres of woodlands swathed in carpets
of snowdrops Lady Erskine has developed this natural tourist
attraction from a small honesty box and 170 visitors in 2001
to a national Scottish Snowdrop Festival in 2007, attracting
7505 visitors to Cambo and visitors to a further 63 venues throughout
Scotland and supplemented by activities such as snowdrop seminars,
art exhibitions and the showcasing of Scottish craftspeople
and artists.
